I work for a company that is owned by Comcast. For the past 4 years (the entire time I’ve been here), I’ve worked mostly on Comcast’s version of Remote DVR. I recently discovered that the service has launched in my area. I knew that they were working towards deployment, but didn’t know that it was actually out now.
The service is called Comcast MyDVR. You can set/view/delete scheduled recordings and series recordings (or season passes for you Tivo people). There are some other features that we have in place that the website doesn’t support, but I won’t go into those features.
When I found out that the service was available in my area, I signed up for it and tested it out. It took a few times to get things set up. This was because I had an older version of software on the DVRs at home. Once Ryan noticed the latest version of the software (there are some noticeable changes), I was able to signup with any issues.
I ran through a number of tests with the service and noticed that it worked just as expected. The service works well. I’m happy that it turned out so well.
It’s nice to see something that I worked so hard on make it out into the field. The idea that something I worked on may be used by so many people is really neat. If you have a Comcast DVR, check it out.
